Give little ones an education they’ll really enjoy at Children’s Season, organized by Singapore’s National Heritage Board. The programme spans art, culture, history and more, with activities and events taking place across the city’s many museums. Learn about ocean conservation at the marine-themed Ghost Nets of the Ocean – Au Karem ira Lamar Lu exhibition, which will be hosted by the Asian Civilisations Museum. The exhibition stars marine creatures made from recycled plastic materials and ocean debris, highlighting the problem of pollution. Over at the National Museum of Singapore, find out about traditional modes of transport at Join the Dots!, which also uncovers heritage enclaves from the Seventies and Eighties.

Children’s Biennale: Dreams & Stories at the National Gallery

Don’t let your little ones miss out on the National Gallery’s first ever Children’s Biennale, a four-month festival that champions art and all things art-related, with an accessible and exciting programme of interactive family-focussed workshops, talks, performances and other events. There will also be two al fresco festival weekends (21–23 July and 28–30 July), with multimedia displays, street entertainment, activities and more.

The Singapore Art Museum’s annual family-friendly exhibition is back this year with a new topic for exploration: how people, flora and fauna react and adapt to their environment. You can expect an array of immersive, whimsical and intriguing interactive landscapes, including Unchalee Anantawat’s ‘Floating Mountain’ and Mary Bernadette Lee’s ‘Wanderland’, where objects mysteriously hang from ceilings. Don’t miss ‘Lizard Tail’ by Hiromi Tango: a performance piece that focuses on themes of adaptation and survival. There will also be a series of short movies, workshops and tours.

Lovers of EDM rejoice, Ultra festival – founded in Miami – will take over the city again for two days this weekend.
