Tian Tian

1 Kadayanallur Street
#01-10 Maxwell Food Centre
Singapore 069184

In a city where Hainanese Chicken Rice holds almost legendary status, the famous dish at the Tian Tian hawker stall in the Maxwell Food Centre was hailed by celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain as the best in the world. It even beat Gordon Ramsay’s effort in a 2013 cook-off.

The rice is the star; perfectly cooked in chicken stock, full of flavour and oily, just as it’s meant to be and the chicken is tender, juicy and supremely tasty.

There are plenty of places in Singapore where you can get a very, very good Hainanese Chicken Rice but sitting at the top of the tree is Tian Tian. You’ll pay S$3.50, you’ll wait between 20 minutes and half an hour to get served and there’s no air-con so it’s boiling hot but when you take your first bite, you’ll know why you waited.
